As of Monday morning, police were still searching for the suspect accused of shooting a Frankfort man in the head Saturday night.
Frankfort Police Maj. Rob Richardson said officers responded to Frankfort Regional Medical Center just past 11 p.m., after Alonzo Scott, 37, of Frankfort, came in with a gunshot wound.
Scott said he was staying at the Bluegrass Inn on Versailles Road when someone entered his room and began assaulting him. During that assault, Richardson said the victim heard a gunshot. Scott soon realized he had been shot, Richardson said, and was able to get free and drive himself to the hospital.
Richardson said Scott later identified the man who attacked him as Christopher McGowan, 27, of Frankfort. A warrant has been issued for McGowan’s arrest for second-degree assault.
Police said a bullet struck Scott in the head, but his injuries were not life threatening and he has since been released from the hospital.
When officers went to Scott’s hotel room, they said they found evidence of a struggle and a shooting.
Richardson said the incident is still under investigation. He said the motive for the attack is still unclear.
