Attorney Michael Judy dies

Well-known Frankfort attorney Michael Judy, a civic leader who founded the Franklin County Public Defenders Program, died Sunday at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington following a brief illness. He was 63.

A Franklin County High graduate, Judy was an outstanding basketball player and was voted the State Journal County Player of the Year. He was an honor graduate of George Washington University and set the basketball team’s single game point record with 46 against Maryland in 1965.

Judy also graduated with honors from law school at the University of Kentucky.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Leestown Road. Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rogers Funeral Home, and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
