All political races are very important. I hope everyone gives each election a good look and doesn't vote for someone just because they are the incumbent. Here is my attempt at informing the public. More will come as each of us learn about each candidate. One thought, if we keep voting incumbents back into office and Frankfort/Franklin County and Kentucky will never improve.
I wanted to list the numbers for the upcoming 2010 elections. All I could find on the Ky. Registry of Election Finance website were candidates for the Sheriff's race. It appears no one else has reported anything yet. Please correct me if I am wrong but I believe all local offices are up for re-election this time except for the Frankfort Mayor.
Looks like the Sheriff's Office is going to be a race this year. Everyone seems to be off to a good start. The incumbent hasn't had a fundraiser yet but I don't think that's uncommon.

Versailles and Woodford County is Ben Chandler's home town and Ben's right hand man is Squirrel Carl a former Woodford County Sheriff. What is the big deal about these kind of Federal grants? Mickey Mouse could have gotten them with kind help. Pat Melton is Ted Collins's hand picked surrogate for Sheriff. Ted Collins and Juilan Carrol want total control of Franklin County. Are we the people going to let happen? NO!!

Pat Melton has applied and received several grants while working as a Police officer in Versailles, Ky, He acquired a $189,000 grant to upgrade many of the Versailles first responders with a digital radio system. This has allowed them to drop their antiquated analog radio system and move to a state of the art digital radio system.
Pat has also applied for and acquired approximately $200,000 more in grants for other needs of the first responders in Woodford County.
Whether Pat works as a front line police officer or private sector executive leader, he produces results.
Not only does Pat meet the citizens needs and arrests the bad guys, he makes the places he works ... Better!
For that reason I am voting for Pat as my Sheriff

FTA...(snip)There are financial opportunities over the past four years that our community(Versailles?) has missed which would have increased the ability for our officers to serve our community with a greater and stronger presence to all citizens - especially our seniors and children." Melton said. I know how to find those extra dollars without burdening our community in a time when we are all pinching our pennies. Mr. Melton do you mean the Versailles community. Why if you know how to acess all these funds why have you not gotten them in your present job? Tell us how you are going to do all these wonderous things.Talk is cheap it takes money to buy whiskey.

To MACH570: I understand that these same city commissioners will be running for office once again. It's the one you're talking about staying in that will be kicked out. There's nothing wrong with who we have now. GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE!

Do you think the Betty Winn beating case will come back to haunt Sheriff Clark?

Saw this quote today:
"Politicians and diapers should both be changed regularly and for the same reasons."

Looks like Melton has got some big donors there.
Too bad money or politics has to come into play with a law inforcement role.
