Betty Young

Betty Ballard Young, 83, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

A native of Owen County, she was born January 19, 1929, to George Washington and Lela McDonald Ballard. Ms. Young retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky after 35 years of service. She was an administrative assistant in various cabinets, the last three of which were Revenue, Transportation and Labor. She was a former member of O.E.S. Eastern Star Hiram #93.

Ms. Young is survived by her children, Jacqueline Young Noonan, Charles Young and his wife Catherine, Ashley Gravitt and her husband John; brother, Scott Ballard and wife Margie; sister, Patricia Roberts; two grandchildren, Mitch and Amanda Young; niece, Susie Ballard and nephew, Greg Roberts. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents; niece, Vickie Ballard and nephew, Dan Ballard.

A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
