Investors Heritage took a 5-0 lead over Johnson’s Body Shop, and didn’t look back Wednesday night to move on in the Major League softball tournament losers' bracket at Lakeview Park.
Investors went on to win 15-4 in three innings.
In the first inning between the two loser’s bracket teams, Investors Heritage earned its first run of the night when Ally Ellis hit a double, sending Amelia Douglas home.
With bases loaded, a wild pitch allowed Chandler Kelly to steal home giving Investors Heritage a 2-0 lead. The trend continued as wild pitches let Ellis, Ashleigh Caudell and Tiffany Jennings all score, making it 5-0 at the top of the first.
The scored remained the same until Investors Heritage approached the plate for the second inning. A triple by Douglas with the bases loaded scored Mallory Cornish, Katelyn Slone and Rebecca Rowland.
Investors Heritage opened up its lead to 12-0 after Douglas, Kelly, Ellis and Caudell scored after wild pitches.
In the bottom of the second inning, Johnson’s started to rally. Slone scored on a walk with bases loaded. A single by Samaya Day gave Taydon Brooks and Katy Redmon two runs, making the score 12-3.
Investors Heritage added to its lead with two more runs in the third inning by Cornish and Slone, making it 15-3. Johnson’s added one run by Syhia Marks, but were unable to score again.
The game ended due to a 10-run rule in the bottom of the third inning.
Amanda Boggs pitched three innings for Investors Heritage. For Johnson’s, Mariah Butler pitched the first inning, before being relieved by Cornish in the second inning.
